The Go-Go Girls Guide To: Healthy Hair

From work to dinner, or gym to a bar, (us) ladies are always on-the-go.
Whoever has the chance to go home after work, awaiting a refreshing hair wash and style – I am truly jealous of you.
I am constantly rushing around from one commitment to the next, and I've learnt the hard way, that the pin straight mane I woke up 30 minutes earlier than usual to perfect – will (realistically) only last for a couple of hours before the frizz and flicks kick in.
I've decided to share a few tips and tricks that make my hair look good all day (and night), whilst also sharing my favourite products with you.

Get your Shampoo and Conditioner Right.
Did you know that your hair will get use to the same products if you use the same ones all the time?
It is best to rotate your use of product. If your hair is becoming dry and breaking easily, you need to take that into consideration and use a deeper conditioning range which will lock moisture into your strands. If you have build-up, you should be using a clarifying shampoo to refresh your hair (and rinsing your hair properly!). If you have recently coloured your hair, or you swim frequently, a colour protection range would be ideal for you.

Give your hair a Treat.
Getting onto a regime of a weekly treatment is an essential. A regular intensive treatment will replenish, restore and bring your locks back to life, regardless of your hair type.
Long or short, colour-treated or chemically relaxed, worn au natural or styled with every iron under the sun. No matter what you do to your hair, the cuticle becomes worn and vulnerable to losing essential nutrients like moisture and protein, and instead, absorbs damaging elements like free radicals and UV rays. The good news is that hair treatments work to restore ultimate shine, strength and beauty.
After shampooing and conditioning, ring out all the water and lightly towel dry your hair. Apply the treatment from roots to ends, and brush through using a tooth-comb. Leave the treatment in for the maximum amount of time, and rinse.
Yes, it is a little time consuming – but it will save you a whole heap of styling during the week – promise.

The Easier Part.
It is super important to protect your hair with oils and serums. I apply four products - if not more, to my hair when it is damp.  If you apply product to damp hair, the oils will penetrate the cuticle layer of wet strands and help lock in moisture and nutrients. Apply oil, a heat protectant, a smoother, and whatever else your heart desires, to your hair when it is damp. My must have leave-ins, which work like a charm and smell divine, are photographed above.

The Lazy Girl Guide to Styling:
After acing hair washing, treating and leave-ins, it’s time to style.
Swap out excessive straightening, for your blow drier. No matter how much you straighten your hair, it will never stay straight. So, I've decided to give up on the dead straight look, and introduced more of a natural vibe.
Flat irons and blow driers are both heat styling tools, however, flat irons are clamped directly onto your hair, completely sizzling the strands. Whereas a blow drier is held further away, and causes less damage to the cuticles and ends of your hair.
What I tend to do, is apply a heap of leave in treatments to my hair when it is damp, and leave it to air dry a little longer. When my hair starts to look drier, I section it, and blow dry in a downwards motion, using a curling brush to curl the ends of my hair inwards, creating a straight look.
TOP TIP: Always hold the drier 30cm away from the hair, and do not blow-dry the roots – or you will have super flat hair).
After my hair is all dried, it does look a little frizzy. So I apply more heat safe product, and turn on the GHD. Rather than sectioning my hair and straightening properly, I just grab a chunk of hair, and slide the GHD through to achieve a sleeker look.
TOP TIP: When the straightener is 4cm away from reaching the ends of your hair, stop straightening! Just simply release the clamp and take it out. By doing this, you will no longer be continuously breaking and sizzling your ends - or have to deal with those annoying flicks!

I style my hair with a blow drier and minimal use of a straightener after every wash, and my hair will remain smooth, manageable and maintained until my next wash. I literary get up and go - Yes, every day it is a little waver than the day before, but saves me a lot of time in the mornings, and also protects my hair from excessive heat styling – and who wouldn't prefer a little wave and a sleep in over dead hair?
