Effortless seems to be the new smokey eye. Spotted at New York S/S 2014 Fashion week, Karen Walker, Louise Goldin, Jeremy Laing and Wes Gorden models, rocked the runway with bare face’s and grungy locks.
Swap out your foundation for a clear or tinted BB cream. BB
cream provides coverage, and allows skin to breathe, whilst moisturising and protecting
your skin from the sun.
The real beauty is, no matter how much you sweat, it won’t clog
your pores.
The irony of the “effortless” look, is that it still requires
effort. To master bare beauty, i used these products, in this order:
1. Start with a clean, moisturised face. You can use a day cream, sunscreen, or a primer.
2. NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer
Concealer is the strongest form of coverage for red spots and dark eyes. NARS concealer comes in a lip-gloss like tube. Dab the bud lightly onto your blemishes and under your eyes. Using your pinky, dab the concealer until it is fully blended in.

3. YSL
all-in-one BB Cream
Using a foundation brush, apply a pea-sized amount of YSL BB
cream for barely-there coverage. Blemishes
will be smoothed out to leave skin radiant and pure. Unique imperfections, like
freckles or beauty spots, will remain visible - leaving a natural appeal.

4. Bare
Minerals Loose Powder
Loose mineral powder is ideal for a breakout, or if further
coverage is desired. Shake the excess powder off the brush, before applying in
a circular motion around your face. Use the same brush to wipe the remaining
powder over the entire eyelid, to illuminate the eyes.

Imagine a line from the top of your ear to the corner of your mouth - that is your most defining contour line. Using a fine brush with a pink or copper shade of blush, lightly dab the blush along this line, until you’re in line with your noes. Blend the blush in using a thick bronzing brush. Voilà, defined cheekbones!

6. Diorshow Brow Styler Gel
Eyebrows shape the face, they need to make a statement. Brush brows so that all the hairs are facing the same direction. Fill in the gaps with an eyebrow mousse or shadow, before applying the gel. Using the same technique used to apply mascara, (in an upwards-outwards motion) each hair will be individually defined, and your brows will appear fuller.

7. Diorshow Iconic Overcurl Mascara
Mascara is every girls essential, adding an exotic, feminine
flutter to any look. Diorshow, is a kohl
mascara with a curved brush, leaving a long and dramatic curl. No more than two
strokes should be applied, the aim is to look natural - avoid clumpy, bold
lashes.

8. Kiehl's
lip balm #1, Shu Uemura gloss unlimited in 36G (left)
OR
MAC lipstick in Amplified (right)
Complete the bare beauty look, with a protective lip balm, or a pale
pink gloss.
If you’re rushing from the gym or work, to an evening event, add
a pop of colour. Considering the look is fairly neutral, you can afford to wear
any bright colour and pull it off. Ultimately, the lip is the most powerful
feature for this look. You can instantly take your look from day, to night,
with the slick of a stick.
